TheFFBI's Most Wanted: Week 4 Waiver Wire Pick Ups

Quarterbacks

  1. Christian Ponder Min - These three QBs should be owned, but I'm writing about them just in case they are out there in your league.  Ponder has looked the part of a veteran QB.  He is completing over 70% of his passes and has 5 TDs on the year. Things will also improve next week with the addition of another deep threat at WR, with Jerome Simpson returning.  He is in the 8-12 conversation at QB going forward.
  2. Andy Dalton Cin - Dalton is currently 6th in fantasy scoring.  Part of this is the product of good match ups, but this is also a passing attack that has talent.  Dalton is throwing to one of the best WRs in the league, in A.J. Green, and has some other emerging WRs, like my man crush Andrew Hawkins.
  3. Ryan Fitzpatrick Buf - Fitzpatrick is currently 12th among QBs in fantasy scoring, and is above big names such as; Cam Newton, Michael Vick, Mathew Stafford, Aaron Rodgers, Tony Romo, and Philip Rivers.  Chan Gailey is an unheralded offensive mind with the weapons to put Fitzpatrick in position to succeed.  Buffalo also has a very underrated O line.

Running Backs

  1.  Ryan Williams Ari - Williams was drafted in most leagues, but check to make sure he wasn't dropped after two lackluster performances in weeks 1 and 2.  Williams looked good running the ball after Beanie Wells left with an injury.  Wells has come out and said that he has a turf toe injury.  This is an injury that can linger and affect a player all season long.  This coupled with Williams skills, may be enough to win him the starting job for the rest for the season.
  2. Rashard Mendenhall Pit - Mendenhall should be back after Pittsburgh's week 4 bye. If he is on your waiver wire he should be picked up.  I would temper my expectations for Mendenhall though.  Sure, he has great upside and could quickly round back into form.  I didn't like what I saw from Mendenhall last year, even when he was healthy. Mendenhall is coming off of a week 17 ACL tear and his O line is still awful.  I expect Redman, Dwyer, and Mendenhall to all share the load.
  3. Tashard Choice Buf - Yes, Spiller went down to an injury and Choice is 3rd on the depth chart and could be in line for a start.  Everyone will rush out to get this guy, but I'm not wasting a high priority waiver or spending much in a FAAB.  Fred Jackson could possibly be back this week and Spiller is only expected to miss 1 to 2 games.  Choice will more than likely only get one start in week 4.  That said, I expect Choice to do well if he gets the start next week and Chan Gailey is familiar with Choice from when he coached him at Georgia Tech.
  4. Daniel Thomas Mia - Reggie Bush's injury doesn't appear serious, and he is expected to start next week.  This injury is a good reminder that Bush isn't a paragon of perfect health. Also, Thomas did get a goal line carry when Bush was still in the game.  If Bush goes down it looks like Thomas will be the guy.
  5. Lamar Miller Mia - I like Miller more than Bush, from a skills standpoint.   It looks as if Miller would just be a change of pace/3rd down RB if Bush were to miss time.
  6. Bilal Powell NYJ - When Powell was playing back in Louisville, I thought he had the skills to be a decent NFL RB.  He looks better running the ball than Shonn Greene does at the moment, and there is a chance that the Jets make a move to the younger back.  I like Powell as a stash and hope he gets more playing time.

Wide Receivers

  1. Denarious Moore Oak - Moore is the best deep threat in the Raider's passing arsenal.  Palmer is throwing a ton, and now that Moore is healthy he should continue to see a high number of targets.
  2. Jerome Simpson Min - Simpson returns from a 4 game suspension this week.  He has elite physical skills and could be a great compliment opposite Percy Harvin.  I liked what I saw from Simpson in the pre-season and what he did in Cincinnati last season.  As long as he isn't getting bricks of bubble kush mailed to his house, he should be a solid WR3.
  3. T.Y. Hilton Ind - Hilton, the rookie from Florida International, made some noise in the pre-season and in week 3.  He did the most with his 8 targets, and caught 4 catches for 113 yards and a TD.  He and Donnie Avery, who i talked about last week, are in competition for targets behind Reggie Wayne.  (EDIT)  Myth1n on Reddit had a good point that Hilton is on a bye this week, you can probably wait a week to stash him, if you need other roster spots this week.
  4. Kevin Ogletree Dal - Check to see if someone dropped him after a disappointing week 2.  Miles Austin left with a rib injury, but it doesn't appear to be too serious.  Miles Austin has dealt with numerous injuries in the past, and Ogletree could be one play away from seeing double digit targets.
  5. Jeremy Kerley NYJ - Trusting any Jet's receiver, outside of Santonio Holmes, will be tough this season.  Kerley is a WR to keep an eye on and stash if you have room.  He is making big plays every week, and there could be a point in which you trust him.

If you have any questions about other players, or who to drop, you can comment below, email me at theffbi@gmail.com, or hit me up on twitter @theFFBI.

Week 3 Fantasy Football Rankings

Quarterbacks

  1. Drew Brees home vs KC - Kansas City has been inexplicably bad this year on defense.
  2. Mathew Stafford @ Ten - I expect Stafford to look like the 4th QB drafted this week.  Tennessee has big holes on defense.
  3. Robert Griffin III home vs Cin -  RGIII is the number one fantasy player through two weeks.  He should remain in the top five at QB, as long as he can stay healthy.  The read option/pistol is great for RGIII's rushing #s, but that play style puts him at a greater injury risk.
  4. Aaron Rodgers @ Sea - Seattle is proving to be a great defense, but Rodgers has shredded good defenses before.
  5. Tony Romo home vs TB -  Eli's 510 passing yards, exposed the problems with TB's secondary.  I expect a big bounce back effort from Romo in the Cowboy's home opener.
  6. Philip Rivers home vs Atl - Rivers Doesn't look like the 20+ int QB of last year, through two games.  Rivers can put up numbers even with the backups in.
  7. Matt Ryan @ SD - I think last week's game is about what we should expect from Ryan every week.  Michael Turner is holding this offense back.  Defenses don't fear the run.
  8. Tom Brady @ Bal - Brady's O line has been sub par, and he still is struggling with his timing with Lloyd on the deep routes.  I'm not impressed by the return of Josh McDaniels, so far.
  9. Ben Roethlisberger @ Oak - The switch from Bruce Arians to Todd Haley, hasn't resulted in a decline in passing.
  10. Peyton Manning home vs Hou - This defense is going to be a good test for Manning at home, but its a defense that he is familiar with.
  11. Joe Flacco home vs NE - New England's secondary hasn't been tested yet, and I expect Flacco to try to exploit it.
  12. Michael Vick @ Ari - Arizona shut Vick down last year, and they've only gotten better.  Vick is also without his starting center on the O line.  An injury to the center can sometimes lead to offensive struggles.
  13. Alex Smith @ Min - Smith could be a dependable QB, who won't kill you this year.  He has  a plethora of weapons, and doesn't turn the ball over much.
  14. Andrew Luck home vs Jac - Luck is making improvements week to week, and this week he gets Austin Collie back in the mix.
  15. Ryan Fitzpatrick @ Cle - Cleveland's defense is a different unit without Joe Haden.
  16. Matt Cassel @ NO - Cassel could get a lot of garbage time stats this season, if the defense remains this horrible.
  17. Jay Cutler home vs StL - Cutler is my most hated player in the NFL, so his ranking will always be slightly biased.  This might be a little low, but Chicago's O line is turrble, and St. Louis is an improved defense.
  18. Matt Schaub @ Den - Schaub is a great real life QB, but isn't expected to do much in this offense.  As long as he manages the game, the defense and running game will get Houston the W most weeks.
  19. Carson Palmer home vs Pit - Palmer hasn't been that accurate, but he is throwing a ton and has weapons.
  20. Mark Sanchez @ Mia - Miami's front seven is the strength of the team, but the secondary is still bad.  This might be a little low, but with the variation from week 1 to week 2, its hard to trust Sanchez.

Running Backs

  1. Arian Foster @ Den - Foster will always get his 25 touches a game, no matter how many they give to Ben Tate.
  2. Maurice Jones-Drew @ Ind - MJD has crushed the soul of the Colt's run defense in his career.
  3. C.J. Spiller @ Cle - Cleveland's turrrble defense might allow Spiller to maintain his 10.1 YPC.
  4. Lesean McCoy @ Ari - McCoy shouldn't have as many troubles as Vick will against Arizona.
  5. Ray Rice home vs NE - Rice is still producing, but he only has 26 rushes through 2 games.
  6. DeMarco Murray home vs TB - Gerald McCoy has been a run stopping beast, but Murray only needs to break one long one to have a top 10 day.
  7. Michael Bush home vs StL - Bush should put up big numbers with his 20+ touches.
  8. Marshawn Lynch home vs GB - Lynch's back didn't look like it was bothering him too much last week.
  9. Frank Gore @ Min - I was wrong on Gore this draft season.  I didn't think he was worth taking until the 4th round or later, and he is proving me wrong every week.
  10. BenJarvus Green-Ellis @ Wsh - The law firm should find ample running room, with Washington losing two key defenders in the front 7.
  11. Trent Richardson home vs Buf - Richardson looked powerful last week.  He might be able to produce every week, even when Weeden is suffering growing pains.
  12. Darren McFadden home vs Pit - Oakland's line has regressed this year.  They aren't giving McFadden any room.  McFadden takes some of the blame though, he isn't always taking the 4 yards that are there.
  13. Reggie Bush home vs NYJ - Since the end of last season Bush is much more likely to take the 4 yards, instead of tip toeing looking for the big run.  He will be a top 15 back, but the fear of injury still looms.
  14. Doug Martin @ Dal - Martin is a workhorse back, who looks like a lock for 25 touches every game.  He should be in your line up every week.
  15. Stevan Ridley @ Bal - Ridley looks to be a big part of the offense.  Fumbles used to be a problem for Ridley, and it could only take one to get a stay in Belichick's dog house.
  16. Adrian Peterson home vs SF -  Peterson doesn't have his burst or lateral quickness back yet, but will get al of the carries.  If he produces against the best run defense, he is back.
  17. Alfred Morris home vs Cin - I've written about my concerns for Morris in my Ball Street article.  This week he got the dreaded vote of confidence and favorable comparisons from the coaching staff.
  18. Willis McGahee home vs Hou - Houston is a tough match up, but not many RB2s get as many carries as McGahee does.
  19. Jamaal Charles @ NO - Its a great match up in New Orleans.  The whole knee issue is cause for concern.
  20. Darren Sproles home vs KC - Sproles is producing in the receiving game, but is this the week he gets a few carries?
  21. Steven Jackson @ Chi - Jackson hasn't practiced this week.  This should be a game time decision.  Grab Darryl Richardson, if he is still out there.
  22. Michael Turner @ SD - Turner looks slow, but is still getting the majority of carries.  It will be interesting to see if his DUI results in a suspension.
  23. Ryan Mathews home vs Atl - Mathews should get the start this week, but check the inactives before game time to be sure.  You could argue that Mathews should be higher, but I'm going to be cautious and treat him as a flex until we see what he looks like.
  24. Peyton Hillis @ NO - Hillis ran hard after contact last week.  If Charle's knee ends up being an issue, Hillis could be a low end RB2 going forward.
  25. Ben Tate @ Den - You won't know week to week how many carries he will get, but he is a decent flex option.
  26. Chris Johnson home vs Det - Mathew Berry brought up a good stat on the Fantasy Focus Football podcast.  Chris Johnson's average point of contact is -2 yards.  That means he is averaging getting first hit 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage.
  27. Donald Brown home vs Jac -  Brown isn't getting as much work as i thought he would this season.  But, he isn't killing you in the flex.
  28. Pierre Thomas home vs KC - Both running backs will have flex value this season, as the team strives for a more balanced offensive attack.
  29. Mark Ingram home vs KC  ^^^
  30. Cedric Benson @ Sea - Benson was on the field for 70% of the offensive snaps against the Bears, and ran 21 passing routes.  This bodes well for Benson's long term value, but this is a tough match up this week.
  31. Mikel Leshoure @ Ten - I think both backs will cannibalize each other's value, until Leshoure wins the starting job.  I feel like Leshoure has the best shot at a TD this week.
  32. Kevin Smith @ Ten
  33. Shonn Greene home vs Mia -  Shonn Greene is awful.
  34. Beanie Wells home vs Phi - Beanie Wells is worse.
  35. Daryl Richardson @ Chi - Richardson has been favorably compared to Willie Parker.  He is fast, but doesn't shy away from contact.  If Jackson starts, he is a desperation flex play.  If Jackson doesn't start, he is a RB2.
  36. Kendall Hunter @ Min - Hunter would be a top 15 back if Gore goes down.

Wide Receivers

  1. Calvin Johnson @ Ten
  2. Roddy White @ SD - Roddy White is one of the most consistent WRs in fantasy football.  He will very rarely put up duds, like Julio did last week.
  3. A.J. Green @ Wsh - Green should be able to burn DeAngello Hall.
  4. Brandon Marshall home vs StL - I don't trust Cutler this week, but Marshall should get his.
  5. Julio Jones @ SD - Jones missed on a few catches that would have given him a big day.  He got targeted a fair amount in the red zone.
  6. Miles Austin home vs TB - Austin is Romo's most trusted target at WR.
  7. Jordy Nelson @ Sea - The big plays have to be coming soon.
  8. Dez Bryant home vs TB - Bryant and Austin can have similar success that Cruz and Nicks had against this secondary.
  9. Dwayne Bowe @ NO -  See Matt Cassel.
  10. Mike Wallace @ Oak -  Wallace hasn't had that really big play yet.  Whats surprising is that Wallace is getting red zone looks.
  11. Andre Johnson @ Den -  Great skills.  Plays on a run first team, that only passes about 30% of the time in the red zone.
  12. Steve Johnson @ Cle - Looks healthy this season, and is back to making plays.
  13. Percy Harvin home vs SF -  Harvin is getting a ton of looks, but the offense will struggle against SF.
  14. Antonio Brown @ Oak - His yardage has been good, not great.  I think this is the week he gets a TD.
  15. Demaryius Thomas home vs Hou - Thomas is the number one receiver at this point.  Tough match up, but he always has the chance to break a long one.
  16. Reggie Wayne home vs Jac -  Wayne could be one of the biggest late round steals of the draft.  He is getting a ton of targets.
  17. Wes Welker @ Bal - Welker is getting open consistently.  He will be used heavily this week.  Welker has fallen as low as ranking in the mid to high 30s on some fantasy sites**cough CBSSports cough**.  That is mouth breathing madness.  He is a WR2 at worst, don't overreact to the Julian Eddleman stuff.
  18. Malcom Floyd home vs Atl - Floyd is the most talented and trusted WR on the roster.
  19. Eric Decker home vs Hou - I still like Decker.  He is still a first read on a lot of plays for Mannning.  Things will get better.
  20. Brandon Lloyd @ Bal -  Josh McDaniels and Tom Brady are doing everything they can to get the ball to Lloyd.  He is the most targeted WR in NE.
  21. Desean Jackson @ Ari - More attention will be payed to Jackson this week, with Maclin being out.  This could be good and bad for Jackson.  I think he will be fine with the volume of targets he will get and the potential to get behind defenders.
  22. Vincent Jackson @ Dal - Dallas' secondary is vastly improved from last year.
  23. Danny Amendola @ Chi -  Amendola just keeps getting open.
  24. Marques Colston home vs KC - Colston had a slow start last season, and this foot injury is a bit concerning as well.
  25. Michael Crabtree @ Min - Crabtree hasn't gotten the TDs yet, but will alwasy get you at least 6-10 points in yardage.
  26. Torrey Smith home vs NE -  So far Smith's production hasn't caught up with his pre-season hype.
  27. Santonio Holmes @ Mia - Mark Sanchez is spreading it around, but Holmes is the only one I somewhat trust.
  28. Lance Moore home vs KC
  29. Donnie Avery home vs Jac - The Colt's offensive coordinator loves Avery.
  30. Nate Washington home vs Det - Washington isn't listed on the injury report this week.
  31. Andrew Hawkins @Wsh -  My waiver wire man crush.  Read TheFFBI's most wanted articles for more info.
  32. Brian Hartline home vs NYJ - Hartline doesn't do anything great, but is decently good at everything.  He is Miami's best WR, but gets Revis this week.
  33. James Jones @ Sea - Jones has a chance for a big game is Greg Jennings doesn't go.
  34. Kenny Britt home vs Det - Britt has the talent of a top 10 WR, when healthy.
  35. Titus Young @ Ten - With Tony Scheffler out more targets could go to Young.  He just has to get behind someone once.
  36. Larry Fitzgerald home vs Phi - Just put him here at the bottom to show how bad of a fantasy option he is this week.  Read my Ball Street article to fully understand the hate.

Tight Ends

  1. Jimmy Graham home vs KC
  2. Rob Gronkowski @ Bal
  3. Vernon Davis @ Min - Davis has extended his amazing post season production into this season.  He could be a lock to remain in the top 3.
  4. Brandon Pettigrew @ Ten - The Titans just can't seem to block TEs.  Dante Rosario even had 3 TDs against this defense last week.
  5. Antonio Gates home vs Atl -  He practiced this week, and hopefully won't be another surprise late scratch.
  6. Tony Gonzalez @ SD - Gonzalez still has it at age 36.  He is getting a good number of targets, and has scored in both previous weeks.
  7. Dennis Pitta home vs NE - Pitta has become Flacco's new favorite target, through two games.  He is the most targeted receiver on the team.
  8. Jermichael Finley @ Sea - Finley has the physicalalents to be one of the best, but sometimes lacks concentration and there are a lot of mouths to feed in GB.
  9. Owen Daniels @ Den - Daniels looks healthy, and is the second best receiver on the team.  The TDs might not come this year, but he could get to the 1,100 yard mark.
  10. Jason Witten home vs TB - Romo's man crush is getting healthier, but still hasn't had a big game yet.
  11. Brent Celek home vs Ari - Remember back a season or two ago, when Vick was destroying Celek's fantasy value?  He has 19 targets and 12 receptions, in two games.
  12. Jared Cook home vs Det Detroit's secondary is still weak.
  13. Scott Chandler @ Cle - You could argue he should be higher.  He will if he keeps getting those TDs.
  14. Kyle Rudolph home vs SF - Rudolph could be the security outlet for Ponder, but he will be matched up against elite LBs.
  15. Fred Davis home vs Cin -  I don't understand why Davis isn't used more.  Maybe, its a product of the offensive scheme.  But, he is a talented TE.
  16. Jacob Tamme home vs Hou - Tough match up and Manning has been spreading it around.  Tamme doesn't appear to be a top target for Peyton.
  17. Coby Fleener Home vs Jac - Fleener saw 10 targets in week one, and 4 in week 2.
  18. Heath Miller @ Oak - TD dependant TE.
  19. Brandon Myers home vs Pit - The ground game will struggle, and Palmer has been looking to Myers.
  20. Marcedes Lewis @ Ind - He has the talent and could be higher.  Lewis disappeared in a tough week 2 match up.

Defenses

  1. San Francisco 49ers @ Min
  2. Chicago Bears Home vs StL -  StL O line will give up some sacks.
  3. Houston Texans @ Den - We saw Manning throw to the other team, and get sacked a few times, on Monday night.  Oh, and the Texans have a really good defense.
  4. New York Jets @ Mia - Ryan Tannehill.
  5. Philadelphia Eagles @ Ari - Kevin Kolb and bad O line.
  6. Pittsburgh Steelers @ Oak - The Steelers have held the Raiders in check recently.
  7. Green Bay Packers @ Sea - Clay Mathews.
  8. Arizona Cardinals home vs Phi - Arizona has pro bowlers at every level and shut down the Eagles last season.  They will probably be on the field a lot though, with their turrrble offense, and pick sixes count against the point total in most leagues.
  9. Baltimore Ravens home vs NE - They have traditionally done well against Brady.
  10. Detroit Lions @ Ten - The Titans are struggling on offense.  Suh and Fairley are drooling over their match up with the Titans interior O line.
  11. Buffalo Bills @ Cle - The Bills looked much better in week 2.
  12. Seattle Seahawks home vs GB -  Good defense, tough match up.
  13. Dallas Cowboys home vs TB - Could be ranked higher, but I think Schiano will play conservative.
  14. Miami Dolphins home vs NYJ - Bad Jets O line.  Good Miami front 7.
  15. Atlanta Falcons @ SD
  16. New England Patriots @ Bal
  17. St. Louis Rams @ Chi
  18. Cleveland Browns home vs Buf
  19. Denver Broncos home vs Hou
  20. San Diego Chargers home vs Atl

Ball Street: Week 3 Fantasy Football Trade Market

Running Backs to Sell

  1. Jamaal Charles KC - Charles saw limited action this Sunday, due to re-injuring his surgically repaired knee.  Coach Romeo Crenell says that Charles wanted to go back in Sunday and that he will play next weekend.  Even if he does play, this is scary stuff.  There are a multitude of examples of RBs having down years coming off an ACL surgery.  Charle's could be fine, but I say get rid of him now for similar value if you can.  Try for a low end RB1 high end RB2 like Doug Martin or Trent Richardson.
  2. Alfred Morris Wsh - Morris got two starts in a row now, and had one great game and one ok game.  Morris has yet to register a catch and RGIII is going to be stealing some red zone rushing opportunities.  Not to mention, he plays for Mike Shanahan, so his starting job could be lost on any given week.  If you can get a fair price for him, I would ship him out in favor of someone with a more stable situation, like a Cedric Benson.
  3. Ryan Mathews - I talked about Mathews in last week's article.  I still say you should find a buyer before he makes his comeback.

Running Backs to Buy

  1. Matt Forte Chi - ESPN's injury expert Stephania Bell is of the opinion that Forte's time missed may be shorter than we originally heard.  It's doubtful that he will return this week, but there is hope for next week, or the week after that.  If you can afford a week or two wait, I really like the value in going for him now, especially if his owner does not have Michael Bush.
  2. Steven Jackson StL - Jackson has been a massive disappointment, through the first 2 games.  I think you might be able to low ball a Jackson owner and gain a productive RB2 for the rest of the season.  The groin injury is a little worrisome, but Jackson is known for playing through injuries and should still remain a large part of the offense going forward.
  3. C.J. Spiller Buf - I know Spiller's value is at an all time high right now.  He's hotter than a set of twin babies in a Mercedes Benz with the windows up and the temp goes up to the mid 80's.  He's currently rushing for a ridiculous 10.1 YPC.  I would try to convince a Spiller owner that this production is unsustainable and he will be a backup again, once Fred Jackson returns.  Personally, I think Spiller will have RB1 even when Jackson gets back.

Wide Receivers to Sell

  1. Larry Fitzgerald Ari - I won't stop until the world knows that Fitzgerald isn't an elite option any more.  He's a shaky WR2 at best.  His QB sucks.  The O line in Arizona sucks.  But, the defense is awesome.  It looks like Ken Wisenhunt may just be content to play ultra conservative, and let his defense and special teams win them games.  That is bad news for Fitzgerald.  After this week there is a good string of match ups ahead for the Cardinal's passing game, but if I owned Fitzgerald I would unload him to someone who loves the name and drafts players based on how high there Madden rating is.  He will have some good games, because he's an elite talent, but his production will parallel his offense's inconsistent QB play.
  2. Andre Johnson Hou - I like Johnson more than I like Fitzgerald.  That being said, Johnson plays on a run first team and is injury prone.  Sure, there will be games like week one, but there will also be games like week two.  If I could package Johnson and a flexish player for someone like Roddy White, I would do it in a heartbeat.
  3. Wes Welker NE -  Despite what the Patriots say, it sure looks like Welker is being phased out.  Julian Edelman got the start in week two and Welker is averaging about 2/3 of the offensive snaps.  I think better games are coming, with Hernandez out, so maybe it might be best to wait a week or two to trade him.  I would be shopping him for the right price.  Don't let someone low ball you; he will have value as WR2.

Wide Receivers to Buy

  1. Jordy Nelson and Greg Jennings GB - This is the lowest you will be able to buy these guys for all season.  We've all see Aaron Rodgers and this offense click.  It won't be long before both of these WRs are back in the top 15.
  2. Brandon Lloyd NE - The Big games are coming.  You can make a case for a bad NE O line holding back the deep passes, but I think they will get that fixed soon.  Brady was locked on Lloyd against Arizona, and was even forcing the ball to him.  He is the most targeted receiver in NE.  I believe they will find some chemistry as the season goes on.  Lloyd can be inconsistent, but I believe that should change as the season progresses.  I like Lloyd as a WR2 who you might be able to steal with an Alfred Morris type player.
  3. Eric Decker Den -  Decker was very close to having a big game on Monday night.  He is getting the targets, and the production should eventually follow as Manning's chemistry with his new offense develops.  I expect Decker and Thomas to have similar fantasy numbers by years end.

I would like to thank all of my friends, and the /fantasy football subreddit, for checking out my blog the past few weeks.  I'm having a lot of fun so far, and welcome any feedback or questions.  Please follow me by Email, so you can be notified when I have a new post.  You can also follow me on Twitter @theFFBI.

TheFFBI's Most Wanted: Week 3 Waiver Wire Pick Ups

Running Backs

  1. Andre Brown NYG - Everyone thought that David Wilson would be the main beneficiary of an Ahmad Bradshaw injury, but Tom Coughlin and the Giants went elsewhere.  Brown, a 3rd year RB from NC State, came in for Bradshaw and looked like a more than capable fill in.  Wilson will still get some play, but early word is that Brown will get the start this Thursday and more, depending on the severity of Bradshaw's injuries.
  2. Daryl Richardson StL - Whether you believe that Jackson was injured, or benched for spiking the ball, Richardson got a shot Sunday, and made the best of it.  Richardson is a rookie, drafted in the 7th round from a small college, who is a speed back with some size.  My guess is that Jackson is able to suit up next week, but Richardson is worth a stash in case Jackson goes down, or if Jackson is legitimately hurt.
  3. Mike Goodson Oak - Goodson took one big catch to the house Sunday, something McFadden failed to do.  He isn't start worthy, but he has talent and is worth a stash in case McFadden goes down.

Wide Receivers

  1. Danny Amendola StL - Ok, so maybe I was wrong about Amendola just being a safe PPR guy,  Sunday may have been his best game all year, but he showed he is a big part of this offense.
  2. Andrew Hawkins Cin - Last week, I wrote about how Hawkins was a play maker capable of taking it to the house.  On Sunday, he took it to the house.  He only received 2 catches, but I really like this guy's talent.  If i were the Bengals coaching staff I would be coming up with ways to get the ball to him in space, and would even give him plays out of the backfield.
  3. Donnie Avery Ind - I've always liked Avery.  He is a burner with good hands, but he could never stay healthy when he played in St. Louis.  He can put up big numbers with Luck, if this is the year he stays healthy.
  4. Brian Hartline Mia - Ryan Tannehill didn't look as totally inept as I thought he was, when he played the Raiders.  Hartline is one of the only proven receivers on the Dolphin's roster, and Tannehill has the arm strength to take advantage of Hartline's speed.
  5. Jacoby Jones Bal - Jones, a 6th year veteran, looks to be at least as involved in the offense as Torrey Smith.  Jones has always been known for his speed, and Flacco throws deep more than any other QB in the NFL.  Jones is a decent pick up to stash and see if he can emerge as a consistent option.
  6. Brandon Gibson StL - Gibson recorded his second straight game with 50 yards and a TD.   I like his upside, and he is at worst a good bye week fill in option.

Tight Ends

  1. Scott Chandler Buf - Chandler, 6' 7" 260 lbs, is a TD machine.  You can't predict TDs, but he could see his role expand in this offense.  David Nelson, Buffalo's slot WR, is lost for the year.  Chandler could be a good candidate to see targets that would otherwise have gone to Nelson.
  2. Brandon Meyers Oak - Meyers hasn't produced yet, in his 4 years in the NFL, but he is off to a good start in 2012.  He seems to have good chemistry with Carson Palmer, and is the Raider's leading receiver, through 2 games.  I don't know if this will continue, but it is worth monitoring, if you are desperate at TE.

There will always be players that I fail to include on this list.  I don't want to write about the same players every week, and I don't know who is out there in every league.  If you have any questions you can comment below, email me at theFFBI@gmail.com, or ask me questions on twitter @ theFFBI.  I'm more than willing to help any and all who ask.

Week 2 Fantasy Football Rankings

There is one quick thing I wanted to say about this week's position rankings.  I am noticing that I consider the 21 to 30ish WRs as better flex plays than the RBs ranked in similar positions.  This might not be a season long trend, but it is an interesting contrast to past years.

Quarterbacks

  1. Tom Brady home vs Ari - Arizona's defense is better than people think, but the Patriots offense has too many weapons to be slowed down at home.
  2. Drew Brees @ Car - I expect the Saints to strike a better balance between the run and the pass.  This should help Brees get back on track.
  3. Matt Ryan home vs Den - The offensive coordinator wasn't lying about passing aggressively this season. Ryan was the highest scoring QB in week one.  This could be the year he steps into the lime light.
  4. Cam Newton home vs NO - Newton had a great game at home against the Saints, in week 5 of last season. Newton also struggled in the last game of the season against the saints.  I think he bounces back after a poor start and has similar numbers to week 5 of last year.
  5. Peyton Manning @ Atl - We've all heard about how Manning plays better in domes.  I expect this to be a shoot out and Manning looked great running the no huddle last week.
  6. Eli Manning home vs TB - Greg Schiano did some work on this defense in the off season, but Eli should play great in a must win game at home.
  7. Tony Romo @ Sea - Seattle is one of the toughest venues to play at in the NFL, and there defense is no push over.  But, Romo has all of his receivers and a legit run game.
  8. Robert Griffin III @ StL -  The Ram's pass defense looked much improved in week one.  Even if Griffin doesn't repeat last week's numbers, he will always put up good fantasy numbers when you factor in his rushing totals.
  9. Mathew Stafford @ SF - Stafford will have a tough day throwing on the road against the best defense in football.  The Lion's have a plethora of weapons and Stafford will have to compensate for the running game with his arm.
  10. Michael Vick home vs Bal - Last w week Vick was a dumpster fire at the QB position.  You can make the excuse that it was essentially his warm up game.  Vick should get back into top 10 form this week, with a more balanced attack on offense.
  11. Joe Flacco @ Phi - It sure seems like there has been a shift in offensive philosophy in Baltimore.  Philadelphia has a great defense, but Flacco should be able to put up big numbers by getting the ball to his play makers in space.
  12. Alex Smith home vs Det - Detroit is without 3 starters in the secondary; Louis Delmas, Chris Houston, and Bill Bentley.
  13. Josh Freeman @ NYG - Freeman didn't put up great numbers in week one, but he looked great.  Freeman will show off his new weapons against a banged up Giants secondary.
  14. Matt Schaub @ Jac - Schaub is a good QB, but he's on a runcentric team.
  15. Ben Roethlisberger home vs NYJ - Ben didn't look great in Denver.  The Steelers might catch a break if Revis doesn't play this weekend.
  16. Christian Ponder @ Ind - Ponder had a great second half in week one and the Colt's defense is turrrble.
  17. Andrew Luck home vs Min - Luck's offensive line doesn't do him any favors, but he will be throwing from behind a lot this year.
  18. Matt Cassel @ Buf - One thing Cassel doesn't have is elite talent.  He does have a slew of weapons that can make plays for him, though.
  19. Ryan Fitzpatrick home vs KC - It looked bad on the big screen, but Fitzpatrick put up decent fantasy numbers last week.

Running Backs

  1. Arian Foster @ Jac - Foster looked healthy and explosive week one.
  2. Lesean McCoy home vs Bal - McCoy could have had 300+ rushing yards with some WR blocks and minus the offensive penalties.
  3. Adrian Peterson home @ Ind - He still lacks break away speed, but he is more than capable of punishing a bad Colts defense.
  4. Ray Rice @ Phi - Philadelphia has a top 5 run defense, but Rice will always get his, whether its running or catching the ball.
  5. Darren McFadden @ Mia - McFadden had 18 targets week one!  He struggled running the ball, but that shows he will always be involved when healthy.
  6. C.J. Spiller home vs KC - Finally, when Fred Jackson went down last year, Spiller proved he can be the explosive back we thought he would be coming out of college.
  7. Jamaal Charles @ Buf - He didn't catch many passes last week, but looked healthy and productive.
  8. Doug Martin @ NYG - Martin looks like hes going to be one of the rare work horse backs in the NFL this season.  The dream prophecy is coming true.
  9. Frank Gore home vs Det - It looks like Gore will cede 10-14 touches a game to Kendall Hunter, but that might be a good thing for Gore.
  10. BenJarvus Green-Ellis home vs Cle - The law firm was hitting the hole hard against a really good Ravens defense.  He is a borderline RB1.
  11. Ahmad Bradshaw home vs TB - Bradshaw is always  a season long risk for injury, but I think I was too low on him this year.  He looks like he will get a healthy 25+ touches a week.
  12. Maurice Jones-Drew home vs Hou - This ranking is not an indictment of MJD's skill.  Houston is an elite run defense, and it will tough for Gabbert and the Jaguars to finish drives.
  13. Demarco Murray @ Sea - Murray can be a top 5 back in the NFL if he shake his injury problems that plagued him at OU and in his first season in the NFL.  Seattle is a tough run defense, but Murray should get good production out of his 20+ touches.
  14. Steven Ridley home vs Ari - Is this the year that Belichick rides a workhorse RB?  Or, does Shane Vereen and Danny Woodhead get thrown into the mix as well?
  15. Steven Jackson home vs Wsh - Jackson averaged a paltry 2.5 yards per carry against the Lion's in week one.  I think better days are ahead for Jackson, and that YPC might be attributed to an improved Lion's run defense.
  16. Reggie Bush home vs Oak - Reggie Bush is Miami's offense.  It's not a good offense, but he has a chance to break a long run or catch.
  17. Alfred Morris @ StL - I still have doubts about Morris' long term value.  He looks to be getting the carries now, but at any time there could be a switch to Roy Helu, or any other RB on their roster.
  18. Willis McGahee @ Atl - He doesn't play at all on 3rd downs, but there should be opportunities for McGahee to produce on his 15-20 carries.
  19. Darren Sproles @ Car - The only Saint's RB you can trust.
  20. Chris Johnson @ SD - It can only get better from here on out for Johnson.  I don't think he's completely done yet.  Michael Lombardi had some interesting things to say about Johnson on last week's BS Report podcast.
  21. Michael Turner home vs Den - If Turner looks bad again this week, it could be the beginning of the end.  Will they go to Snelling or Rodgers more?
  22. Donald Brown home vs Min - Brown looked good on the carries he got, but the Colt's might have to abandon the run a lot this year.
  23. Trent Richardson @ Cin - The Brown's offensive line interior is god awful, and their offense will have trouble maintaining drives with the league's worst starting QB.  Richardson has talent, but it's going to take herculean efforts to put up RB2 numbers every week.
  24. Peyton Hillis @ Buf -  The white buffalo let me down last week.  I'm not giving up on him yet.  I still think he can be a solid flex play and RB2 during some bye weeks.
  25. Ryan Mathews home vs Ten - If Mathews plays I would start him as a flex, and nothing higher.
  26. Shonn Greene @ Pit -  I still hate Shonn Greene, despite his good week one performance.
  27. Kevin Smith @ SF - Smith could catch a decent number of passes, but I think the Lion's offense will struggle in Candlestick park.
  28. Beanie Wells @ NE - It looks like there is an even split between the two Arizona RBs.
  29. Ryan Williams @ NE - Williams could be good if Wells misses significant time.
  30. Knowshon Moreno @ Atl - Moreno was on the field quite a bit, for all 3rd downs, in week one.
  31. David Wilson home vs TB - It remains to be seen if Wilson will get a significant number of touches week to week.
  32. Dexter McCluster @ Buf - McCluster could move up the rankings if he proves to be a big part of the offense again this week.  I think he will be an inconsistent producer though.
  33. Jonathan Stewart home vs NO - I hate the Carolina RB situation, but Stewart is the best option out of the 3 RBs they have.
  34. Kendall Hunter home vs Det - Hunter could be a good flier for a flex spot this week.  If Gore ever goes down, Hunter will be a top 10 back.
  35. Pierre Thomas @ Car - I think he is better than Ingram, and could be used more as the Saints strive for a balanced attack.

Wide Receivers

  1. Calvin Johnson @ SF - Johnson might be the only Lion's offensive player to put up big numbers.  He is matchup proof.
  2. Julio Jones home vs Den - Jones looked deserving of the Jackass 3 moniker I bestowed last week.
  3. Andre Johnson @ Jac - Johnson should always be started and looked great.  I still don't trust his long term health.
  4. A.J. Green home vs Cle - I don't expect Dalton to struggle like Vick did last week. No Joe Haden to worry about either.
  5. Percy Harvin @ Ind - I love Harvin's big play potential and he gets a handful of rushing attempts every week.
  6. Steve Smith (Car) home vs NO - Smith traditionally does well against the Saints.
  7. Roddy White home vs Den - White will always get his targets, especially with Turner struggling.
  8. Hakeem Nicks home vs TB - I think Eli is capable of exploiting TB's secondary better than Cam Newton did last week.
  9. Victor Cruz home vs TB - Cruz just lost his grandmother this week.  This could cause him to lose focus, or be determined to have a big game in her honor.
  10. Dez Bryant @ Sea - Bryant had the worst production of the Cowboy WRs in week one, but looked the best in week one.
  11. Mike Wallace home vs NYJ - Wallace didn't seem to suffer from missing training camp and even got some red zone targets.
  12. Brandon Lloyd home vs Ari - Lloyd had the most week one targets in New England.  I expect a big game.
  13. Wes Welker home vs Ari - It is a little concerning that Welker was only on the field for about 60% of NE's offensive plays, but Tom Brady said it was more of a product of that particular week's gameplan.  He also said that Welker will get plenty of looks this year.
  14. Antonio Brown home vs NYJ -  Brown should have a big game, and its great news that Revis didn't make the trip to Pittsburgh.
  15. Demaryius Thomas @ Atl - Thomas showed why he is a world class athlete on that big catch and run last week.
  16. Miles Austin @ Sea - Austin didn't look full speed week one.  Hopefully he gets healthier as the season goes on.
  17. Larry Fitzgerald @ NE - I still don't like Fitzgerald, but I can see him making some plays while playing catch up in the second half.
  18. Marques Colston @ Car - The most consistent Saints WR.
  19. Steve Johnson home vs KC - Johnson caught a TD, despite not being 100%.  The Bills, and Johnson owners, hope his injuries don't linger all season.
  20. Dwayne Bowe @ Buf - Bowe will have some games where he catches less than 60 yards, like last week.  He also has the upside to win you a week, with his speed and red zone prowess.
  21. Torrey Smith @ Phi - Smith has the ability to take any catch to the house, and the Eagles CBs like to take chances and can be beat.
  22. Vincent Jackson @ NYG - Jackson is a boom or bust player.  He is capable of making fantastic plays and putting up big fantasy numbers though.
  23. Reggie Wayne home vs Min - Wayne was tied for second in the league in targets last week, at 15.  Like I said in week one, his fantasy football death has been greatly exaggerated.  Solid flex play.
  24. DeSean Jackson home vs Bal - Jackson appears to be the healthier out of the two WRs in Philly.  Hopefull this hamstring soreness goes away with time.  Hamstring injuries affect speed players, like Jackson, more than any other position.
  25. Michael Crabtree home vs Det - Crabtree is a reliable flex guy who should be a lock for 80-100 yards, with a possibility for a TD.
  26. Jeremy Maclin home vs Bal - Maclin has guaranteed he will play, and he shares 2nd with Wayne for 15 targets in week one.
  27. Malcom Floyd home vs Ten - I like Floyd a lot, if he is healthy.  I feel like Floyd and Gates are Philip Rivers only reliable receiving options.  I would be comfortable starting him at the flex.
  28. Randy Moss home vs Det - Moss caught a TD on a defensive blunder, where he was inexplicably left uncovered in the end zone, in week one.  With Detroit's injured secondary, I would feel comfortable starting Moss as a flex play.
  29. Anquan Boldin @ Phi - 31 year old Boldin looked surprisingly spry in week one, even getting his numbers called on an end around.  I feel like Flacco will continue to spread the ball around, leaving Boldin as an inconsistent fantasy option.
  30. Lance Moore @ Car - Moore had a huge week one, but this week it could be Devery Henderson, or any other Saints receiving threat, with the big game.
  31. Brandon Lafell home vs NO -  Lafell had a solid week one performance.  If he keeps it up, he can move into an every week flex play.
  32. Mike Williams @ NYG -  Williams hard work in the off season resulted in a TD week one, but not many targets.  The Bucs seem to be runcentric, but Williams is a flier if you're desparate.
  33. Justin Blackmon home vs Hou - Laurent Robinson had the better week one performance, but I like Blackmon's upside more in a game they should be playing catch up all game.
  34. Mario Manningham home vs Det - Manningham has talent.  The only question surrounding him is opportunity.
  35. Dexter McCluster @ Buf - McCluster had 10 targets week one,  but the offensive coordinator is talking abouut getting other pieces, like Jon Baldwin, more involved.  I view McCluster as an erratic fantasy producer.

Tight Ends

  1. Jimmy Graham @ Car - He is the most important skill position player on the Saints' offense.
  2. Rob Gronkowski home vs Ari - Gronkowski and Hernandez were on the field for all 67 offensive snaps in week one.
  3. Aaron Hernandez home vs Ari - Hernandez is the second best deep threat on the roster, behind Brandon Lloyd.
  4. Vernon Davis home vs Det - Davis should find the end zone again in week two.
  5. Antonio Gates home vs Ten - Gates is questionable, but will play.  The Patriots' TE duo both had good games against the Titans in week one.
  6. Fred Davis @ StL - Fred Davis could be the best receiving option for RG3, with Garcon hurting, or not even playing.
  7. Tony Gonzalez home vs Den - Gonzalez showed he can still get it done, and dunk the crossbars better than the younger Vernon Davis, in week one.
  8. Brandon Pettigrew @ SF - Pettigrew is an integral part of the Lion's passing attack, but he is going up against a tough defense, with two elite linebackers capable of covering him.
  9. Jacob Tamme @ Atl - Tamme seemed to split targets with Stokely as Peyton's security option.  40 - 80 yards and the occasional TD,  is what you can expect from Tamme.
  10. Coby Fleener home vs Min - Fleener's 10 targets in week one, were the most he has ever been targeted by Andrew Luck, going back to their days together at Stanford.  Is this a sign of things to come, or a statistical anomaly?  Either way, the Colt's should always be throwing from behind.
  11. Jared Cook @ SD - Cook has the athletic skills of Jimmy Graham, but he doesn't have his QB Drew Brees.  Despite his lack of an elite QB, Cook has put up great numbers in his last 5 starts, going back to last year.
  12. Jason Witten @ Sea - Witten didn't see many targets week one.  But, we all know he was injured for the season opener.  Things could return to normal for Witten this week.
  13. Owen Daniels @ Jac - Daniels could work his way back into the upper tier of TEs this year.  He looked great catching 86 yards in week one.
  14. Greg Olsen home vs NO - Olsen is the second best receiving option in Carolina IMO.
  15. Kyle Rudolph @ Ind - Rudolph has Ponder's complete trust.
  16. Brent Celek home vs Bal -  Celek may capitalize on the injury situations at WR, and build on his 65 yard performance week one.
  17. Martellus Bennett home vs TB - Bennett surprised me in the season opener.  He had ample opportunity to put up numbers in Dallas, but never did.  The giant's have made many stars out of their TEs
  18. Dennis Pitta @ Phi - Pitta was the most targeted Raven in week one, but this week it could just as easily be Ed Dickson getting the love.
  19. Jermaine Gresham home vs Cle - The first round pick Gresham has lots of athleticism, but hasn't put together a good run of production yet.
  20. Kevin Boss @ Buf - Boss, now in Kansas city, quietly had a good week one performance.  Buffalo has traditionally been terrorized by the TE position.
  21. Scott Chandler home vs KC - Chandler is clearly a TD maker.  But, he has no value if he doesn't catch a TD.
  22. Marcedes Lewis home vs Hou - Lewis looked like the pro bowler of 2010 in week one, but he draws a tough match up in week two.
  23. Ed Dickson @ Phi - The Ravens could go to a short passing game, to take advantage of an aggressive Eagle's defense.
  24. Heath Miller home vs NYJ - Miller had a monster week one, but I don't think he produces these numbers week to week.

Defenses

  1. San Francisco 49ers home vs Det - Should be the number one defense every week.  You saw what they did to the Packers!
  2. Baltimore Ravens @ Phi - Imagine Ed Reed in the Brown's secondary in week one.  How many TDs do you think he could have scored?
  3. New England Patriots home vs Ari - The Patriots looked like a whole new team in the front seven in their season opener.  They should abuse the turrrble Arizona offensive line.
  4. Houston Texans @ Jac - The Texans defense is elite, even with super Mario Williams moving on to Buffalo.
  5. Pittsburgh Steelers home vs NYJ - The Steeler's defense is aging, but I think they will fare much better than the Bills did.
  6. Dallas Cowboys @ Sea - The Cowboys could have the second best defense in the league.  Their defense could send 7 players to the pro bowl.
  7. Cincinnati Bengals home vs Cle - Brandon Weeden.
  8. Oakland Raiders @ Mia - Ryan Tannehill.
  9. New York Jets @ Pit - Pittsburgh offensive line was turrrble last season, and hasn't improved much.
  10. New York Giants home vs TB - The Giants defense is always a lock for 3 to 4 sacks.
  11. Philadelphia Eagles home vs Bal - They have a top 10 D line and play makers in the secondary.
  12. Seattle Seahawks home vs Dal - Good defense.  Bad match up.
  13. Washington Redskins @ StL - Washington's front seven has an aggressive front seven, and StL has a bad O line.
  14. San Diego Chargers home vs Ten - The chargers had a good week one and Jake Locker is a little banged up.
  15. Minnesota Vikings @ Ind - Jared Allen and the Vikings should be able to exploit a bad Colt's O line.
  16. Detroit Lions @ SF - The secondary is missing 3 starters, but the Lion's defensive line should be able to generate some points.
  17. Buffalo Bills home vs KC - The Bills were thought of as a much improved defense heading into week one.
  18. Kansas City Chiefs @ Buf - The Bills looked really bad.
  19. Denver Broncos @ Atl - The Broncos have elite pass rushers.
  20. New Orleans Saints @ Car - The defense had a good warm up for Cam Newton in RG3.

Ball Street: Week 2 Fantasy Football Trade Market

The only constant is change, continuing change, inevitable change, that is the dominant factor in society today. No sensible decision can be made any longer without taking into account not only the world as it is, but the world as it will be.  - Isaac Asimov

These well thought out words, apply to just about everything in life.  We are constantly making decisions based on our knowledge of change.  Whether it's buying gas, because we think prices are going up, or drinking the milk that is close to it's expiration date.  Evaluating change is probably the most important concept in fantasy football.

Some people refuse to accept change, and cling to under producing big names, in hopes of big games, that come inconsistently.  We can also rush to believe that change has definitively happened after one turrrble, or great, performance.  Sometimes, we make the decision to get rid of a player, or trade for a player on the cusp of a breakout, a week too late, or a week too early.  Do your research, trust your gut, and it will work out by season's end.

Quarterbacks to Sell

  1. Robert Griffin III - You can keep him and ride it out for the season, but the hype will never be bigger.  His value can only go down from this point on.  If you took him as a backup, with the hopes of him blowing up, now is the time to cash in.   Find an owner who could use a QB and try to get a RB2 or WR2.  Start your offers high and work your way down.

Running Backs to Sell

  1. Shonn Green NYJ - I hate Shonn Greene and I'm not a believer in the Jet's offensive surge.  Greene has never been a consistent producer.  See if you can find someone who sees him as a RB2.
  2. Alfred Morris Wsh - There is a chance Morris could be the lead back all year.  I just don't trust Shanhan.  If someone will give you a RB2 or WR2 I would do it.  Don't get pressured into a bad deal.  I think he has a few more good weeks, before he has to worry about being replaced.
  3. Ryan Mathews SD - That Charger offensive line looked  turrrble Monday night.  Mathews is more talented than his backups, but his line isn't going to do him any favors.  He is banged up and will more than likely be on the injury reports and in late games most weeks.  Wait until they say he is going to start, then unload him for similar value.
  4. Kevin Smith Det - Smith had a big week one, but he goes up against the 49ers run defense this week and next week Mikel Leshoure comes back.  Try to get a flex player for him.

Running Backs to Buy

  1. Chris Johnson Ten - Johnson can only go up from here, and won't go any lower.  Try to lowball his owner with a low end 2 or flex player that he might like.  If you can steal him, do it.
  2. Steven Jackson StL - He didn't have a good game rushing week one against what might be a better Lion's run defense.  He is still a RB1 in my eyes.  Throw some offers out.
  3. Willis McGahee Den - Like Jackson, he ran into a tough run defense week one.  Things will be a lot better going forward.  See if his owner doesn't value him.

Wide Receivers to Sell

  1. Larry Fitzgerald ARI - I don't like anything about his offense.  He is Larry Fitzgerald, and for that reason someone will love him.  His production will be too inconsistent to count on this season.  Get a different WR1 or a high RB2.
  2. Miles Austin Dal - He is healthy now and I suspect his hamstring problems will linger, like last year.  Trade for a safer WR2.

Wide Receivers to Buy

  1. Jordy Nelson GB - The whole GB offense looked bad week one.  I still see Nelson as a WR1.  See if someone else doesn't.
  2. Brandon Lloyd NE - Lloyd was the most targeted WR in week one.  He will have mediocre games, but he is a high end WR2 that might win you some weeks.
  3. A.J. Green Cin - He looked good but not great week one.  Try trading someone like Austin or Fitzgerald for him.
  4. Eric Decker Den - Thomas had the bigger game week one, but I would still bet that Decker has the better season.  I think he is a great WR2.

Buy Antonio Gates

  1. Gate's rib injury doesn't appear to be serious, but his feet are healthy this year.  I still think he is the third best TE.  Try to capitalize on his owners fear.

The FFBI's Most Wanted: Week 2 Waiver Wire Pick Ups

The NFL and fantasy football are both games of adjustments.  While we can't make in game adjustments in fantasy football, we should be looking to make adjustments week to week.  Our teams, no matter how stacked, can always be improved through trading or the waiver wire.  We know every year we will find a handful of difference makers that can greatly improve our chances of winning.  The key to picking through the trash to find a winning lottery ticket is, looking at opportunity.  How many times was this WR targeted?  Is this RB behind an injury prone starter?  Is this player's offense good enough to allow this spike in production to keep up and remain consistent?  These are some of the important questions you should be asking yourself, when putting a claim in on a player.  It's very important to think about why this player that no one owns did so well this week.  It's even more important if you have the first waiver spot.  I tend to wait to see what remains after waivers go though, and pick through the scraps.  Unless there is a no brainer pickup that week.

Running Backs

  1. Alfred Morris Wsh - Morris was given a huge workload and put up some huge numbers in the Super Dome.  He is a Shanahan RB, though.  This guy has been notorious, lately, for switching his depth chart weekly.  He is already talking about how he thinks Royster and Helu are great players too.  All it could take would be a fumble or two and maybe Helu is the new starter.  There are other examples or Shanahan being faithful to rookie RBs.  He is an obvious add, but don't break the bank for him, unless you really believe.
  2. Mikel Leshoure Det - It's a popular thing to bash the Lion's offensive line in Michigan, but they looked great Sunday.  Several NFL analyst were commenting on the hole they were opening up in the running game.  Kevin Smith is the starter for now, or until he gets injured.  But, when Leshoure is back from suspension, I expect him to claim the starting job.  Leshoure looked great in the 4th preseason game, and could be the lead back the Lion's desperately need.
  3. Knowshon Moreno Den - The reports from training camp suggested that Moreno was at the bottom of the depth chart, and could possibly be cut.  Sunday night told a different story.  Moreno was on the field quite a bit, mostly 3rd downs, and even scored a TD in the red zone.  If McGahee goes down, Moreno could be a 3 down RB.

Wide Receivers

  1. Brandon Lafell Car - I like Lafell's opportunity more than any other WR on the waiver this week.  He is a starter, opposite Steve Smith, and has excellent red zone skills.  He struggled as a rookie last year, but he could develop into the consistent 2nd WR the Panthers have been looking for.
  2. Alshon Jeffery Chi - Jeffery is a 6' 3" burner who got a lot of praise in training camp.  The rookie could benefit from all of the attention paid to Brandon Marshall.  His 5 targets were second for Bears WRs, behind Marshall.  He could be an inconsistent producer this year, but there is a chance his skills and opportunity make him a flex play for good match ups.
  3. Kevin Ogeltree Dal - Ogletree, the 4th year WR, made some big plays in the opening game.  The question is, how much of that was due to the Giant's inability to defend the slant and their banged up secondary.  He is the Cowboys 3rd receiver, and we've seen production from this position before.  Ogletree has also been the 3rd WR, and been given ample opportunity, and done nothing to suggest he's a great player until last Wednesday.  He's worth the add, but personally I wouldn't use a high waiver on him.
  4. Randall Cobb GB -  Cobb is great at making plays in space, as seen with his great return skills. Sunday, the Packers tried to get Cobb the ball quick and match him up on line backers.  This could just have been a product of the match up against a very tough SF defense.  There are a lot of mouths to feed in GB, so I don't love his shot at opportunity.  But, his skills make him a lottery ticket to stash on the bench.
  5. Andrew Hawkins Cin - Hawkin was a player that "jumped off the screen" to me during the first Monday night game.  He looked fast and very elusive in the slot.  He has the look of a play maker and a PPR stud.  I can see him being a consistent source of yardage, with lottery ticket upside.
  6. Stephen Hill NYJ - Hill is still an unpolished WR, but his athletic prowess was on display in the Jet's destruction of the Bills.  I don't think the Jet's offense will continue to average 40+ points a week, but Hill makes for a great lottery ticket stash.
  7. Rod Streater Oak - Streater was a popular sleeper among Raider beat writers.  He made big plays in training camp, and caught the only TD for the Raiders Monday night.  He is an unsigned rookie, and thus probably not a consistent performer.  It also remains to be seen how much playing time he will get when Jacoby Ford and Denarious Moore return the line up.  Stash and pray that Carson Palmer still has a prow bowl year left in him.
  8. Brandon Gibson StL - Gibson's 5 targets were second most on the team behind Danny Amendola's 9 targets.  There is a chance Gibson develops into a favored WR for Sam Bradford, someone has to catch the ball this year besides Amendola.  He could be the Ram's deep threat this season.
  9. Danny Amendola StL - Amendola doesn't have the upside that Gibson has, unless you are in a PPR.  He is a safe player that will never kill you in the flex, or when he is used as a bye week fill in.

Tight Ends

  1. Coby Fleener Ind - I love Fleener's upside at the TE postion.  Tupac's hologram can block better than each and every one of the Colt's offensive line men.  Fleener should be an often targeted quick check down for Andrew Luck.  Luck and Fleener also have great red zone chemistry from their days at Stanford.  He has top 10 TE upside.
  2. Marcedes Lewis Jac - We have seen Lewis put up big numbers before with Garrard at QB.  Last year Blaine Gabbert was turrrble, but he looks much improved to start this season.  Lewis also has top 10 upside, we've seen it before.

If you have any questions about other players you want to pick up, or who to drop, you can comment, send me an email to theFFBI@gmail.com, or hit me up on my new twitter account @theFFBI.

Week 1 Fantasy Football Rankings

Finally, after 7 very long months, the first NFL Sunday is upon us.  I'm not kidding when I say it feels just like Christmas when I was younger.  It makes me want to sing a song or something.  There should be football season songs we can sing.  Being able to root for my picks and position rankings, makes this Sunday that much better.  With that in mind, I'll give you an explanation of how I'm approaching my position rankings.

The first week of the season can be very difficult to predict.  Sure, we know what defenses to avoid and target based on last year's numbers, but this year most defenses have new players and or new coaches.  The same concept hold true for most offenses in the NFL.  We have a good idea of what things will be like, but there will be surprises.  With that in mind, I'm ranking players with a mix of last year's production, what I've seen in the preseason, and a few hunches.  Trust and opportunity are also key components.  There will be one Pittsburgh or Washington RB that does well this weekend,  but no one has a great idea of who it is.  I don't trust any of them so I probably won't rank any.  I rank purely based on my confidence in starting that player this week.

These rankings are based on a standard league scoring with 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 RB/WR flex, 1 TE, 1 DEF, and 1 Kicker.  If you have any questions for other scoring formats, I would be glad to answer your questions in the comments or you can email theFFBI@gmail.com.  I have played in many different formats and feel confident answering any questions regarding PPR, IDP, or other league formats.

Quarterbacks

  1. Drew Brees home vs Wsh - I feel like he has something to prove in the first game since the bounty scandal.
  2. Tom Brady @ Ten - New down field threat, 4 pass catching TEs, Wes Welker.  I'm not scared of the O line issues.
  3. Mathew Stafford home vs StL - Megatron, Megatron, and Megatron.  Jeff Fisher may have really coached up this DEF, but I'm still not sold on the DET defense.  Stafford will throw a lot.
  4. Aaron Rodgers home vs SF - Rodgers is facing a real tough defense that returns all 11 starters, but he's still Aaron Rodgers.
  5. Matt Ryan  @ KC - The new Offensive coordinator has promised more passing this year and KC is banged up on defense.
  6. Michael Vick @ Cle - He's healthy right meow.
  7. Cam Newton @ TB - TB's defense was awful last year and I don't think Schiano has fixed it yet.
  8. Philip Rivers @ Oak - Gates is healthy and Ryan Mathews is injured.  I say they lean on River's arm.
  9. Peyton Manning home vs Pit - He looked good in his last preseason game.  His velocity still isn't 100% but Pit doesn't scare me, especially missing Ryan Clark.
  10. Jay Cutler home vs IND - Great match up, but I feel like they run a lot in the second half.  Chicago's line is still shaky and IND still has Freeney and Mathis.
  11. Matt Schaub home vs Mia - He looked great in the preseason and this is a good match up made even better with Mia trading away Vontae Davis.
  12. Ben Roethlisberger @ Den - I could see Todd Haley using lots of quick passes to Antonio Brown to supplement an ailing RB situation.
  13. Josh Freeman home vs CAR - With the additions of Carl Nicks on the O line, Vincent Jackson, Dallas Clark, and a new head coach, I believe in a Freeman bounce back year.
  14. Joe Flacco home vs Cin - If Torrey Smith breaks out, like most think he will, Flacco could be a borderline starter this year.
  15. Robert Griffin III @ NO - Those extra 40 or so rushing yards, can really do a lot to save a QB's weekly value.  Having his first start in front of an angry Super Dome crowd is a little worrisome though.
  16. Jake Locker home vs NE - Can run , has decent weapons, and will be playing from behind.
  17. Russell Wilson @ Ari - Will the preseason magic continue?  Very interesting QB and a surprisingly great runner.
  18. Christian Ponder home vs Jac - I think he might surprise people this year.  Adding Jerome simpson helps a QB who was a viable bye week fill in last year.  He is also able to get you 30 yards or so rushing a game.
  19. Alex Smith @ GB - Will he take the next step under Harbaugh's tutelage, or are those down field WR acquisitions meant to give the running game more room?
  20. Sam Bradford @ Det - This ranking might be too low.  The Lion's secondary is without Louis Delmas and top CB Chris Houston, and they weren't exactly shutting down QBs last year with them in the line up.

Running Backs

  1. Ray Rice home vs Cin - He's my favorite RB, so I am a little biased.  No running back means more to their team's offense than Ray Rice.
  2. Lesean McCoy @ Cle - Great match up and even greater running back talent.
  3. Darren McFadden home vs SD - When healthy he is one of the very best.
  4. Chris Johnson home vs NE - That burst that took him to 2000+ yards, looks like it has returned.  Hopefully the threat of Jake Locker's legs will open up a few bigger holes this year, helping him avoid those 40 yard turd games.
  5. Matt Forte home vs Ind - See Jay Cutler ^^^
  6. Arian Foster @ Mia - The knee thing is a little scary, and he might share a few more carries with Ben Tate, but he will still get his.
  7. Steven Jackson @ Det - The people that passed on this steady RB for riskier players will regret it at year's end.
  8. Michael Turner @ KC - Until we see a decline, I still say you can expect solid yardage and a TD most weeks.
  9. Jamaal Charles home vs Atl - His preseason was solid and he is a top five RB candidate when healthy.  The stats on RBs coming back from ACL injuries are not good though.  Risk/Reward
  10. Fred Jackson @ NYJ - Tough matchup and he is 31 years young.  He has proven to be a great RB though.
  11. Doug Martin home vs Car - I had a dream about drafting him back in June, before he was named the starter.  Joshradamus dream prognostication?  We shall see.
  12. Marshawn Lynch @ Ari - Early indications are that "beast mode" will suit up Sunday afternoon.  Be wary of the early Lynch benching if they are up big.
  13. Darren Sproles home vs Wsh - Solid yardage production every week and he was the 7th most targeted player in the red zone last year.
  14. Frank Gore @ GB - Gore warrants a rank this high assuming he still gets his 20 touches a game and is healthy.  I have a bad feeling about his yearlong value, but he has the talent to prove me wrong.
  15. Steven Ridley @ Ten - This is his week to shine, with Shane Vereen out.  I'm not sure if his opportunity last all season.
  16. Reggie Bush @ Hou - Bush and his backfield mate Daniel Thomas, might be Miami's only good weapons.  This could be good or bad for Bush's value.
  17. Toby Gerhart home vs Jac - I don't see AP getting more than 10 carries and Gerhart averaged 4.9 yards per carry last year.
  18. Kevin Smith home vs StL - If he finishes the game he will put up good yardage.  He might lose goal line carries to Keiland Williams.
  19. Peyton Hillis home vs Atl - The WHITE BUFFALO will run wild this season.  He and Jamaal Charles were named co starters and he is reunited with the offensive coordinator he had in 2010.  The Chiefs will rush 550+ times as a team this year.
  20. Donald Brown @ Chi - Brown is a good candidate to move up this list as the year goes on.  He ended last year strong, and has no competition in the backfield.
  21. Michael Bush home vs Ind - Bush and Forte will both have value this year.  Don't worry about starting him in your flex if you drafted Forte.
  22. Willis McGahee home vs Pit - McGahee should be in line for the majority of carries this season.  We don't know enough about this offense yet, and it's a tough match up.  Might be too low.
  23. Benjarvus Green-Ellis @ Bal - It's a tough match up on the road, but he should have a solid season.  The law firm might even improve on Benson's numbers in Cin.
  24. Rashad Jennings @ Min - Coaches say he will get the lion's share of the carries, but will they be tempted to use MJD when he has a big gain on a 3rd down?
  25. Cedric Benson home vs SF - Aaron Rodgers and the GB coaching staff love Benson.  He is very dedicated and has even been sitting in on the QB meetings, to better learn pass protection schemes.  I love his potential this season, but the SF run defense is tougher than a two dollar steak.
  26. Deangelo Williams @ TB - Should be higher if Jonathan Stewart doesn't play.  Not that much higher though.  I don't trust Carolina RBs.  Not enough carries to go around and this Newton guy.
  27. Trent Richardson home vs Phi - He's banged up right meow and I expect them to spread the carries around this week.  He will be higher when healthier.
  28. Ben Tate home vs Mia - He could have a big game if Houston gets out to an early lead and they rest Foster some.  Should get 10-14 touches most normal weeks.
  29. Ronnie Brown @ Oak - Norv Turner says he will get the majority of the carries.  But, how effective will he be with those carries?  He averaged only 3.2 yards a carry in a very good eagles offense last season.  I think that number isn't much better Sunday.
  30. Shonn Greene home vs Buf - I don't like Greene or his offensive line, as a unit.  That said, he will get the majority of the carries, and he is worthy of a flex spot.
  31. C.J. Spiller @ NYJ -  I love Spiller's upside in a PPR, and he will still be flex worthy in standard formats.  He proved he is a capable RB when Fred Jackson went down last season.
  32. Beanie Wells home vs Sea - I hate owning injury prone on west coast teams.  He obviously has talent, but you never know when that talent will be on the field.  Make sure you always have viable late game throw in options if you own him.
  33. Ryan Williams home vs Sea - Williams is also coming off an injury, but might be healthier than Wells on the season.  If Wells goes down, or Williams gets an even split in work, he could be a flex player.
  34. Everyone else is a crap shoot.  I like Jonathan Dwyer the most in PIT, the Saints might try to feature Mark Ingram this year, and Alfred Morris might be the Redskin's starting RB.

Wide Receivers

  1. Calvin Johnson home vs StL - If you are looking for a reason to start Julio Jones and Brandon Marshall over Megatron in your 4 person league, he is going against Cortland Finnegan.  Finnegan has historically given Andre Johnson trouble, and may try to provoke Megatron to take a swing at him.
  2. Julio Jones @ KC - This dude is more explosive than the volcano scene in Jack Ass 3.
  3. Brandon Marshall home vs Ind - I think they feature Marshall in his first game as a bear.  Look up his pro bowl stat line in 2011.  He has talent.
  4. Roddy White @ KC - Has consistently been a top 7 WR and a leader in the all important targets stat.
  5. Percy Harvin home vs Jac - Harvin finished 2011 as the 8th best WR and was only on the field for 59% of the offensive snaps.  The coaching staff realized this in the off season.
  6. Jordy Nelson home vs SF - He was number one in yards after the catch and yards at the catch last season!  Which means he caught more deep bombs and got more yardage out of short plays than anyone in the league.  Is Nelson more deserving of Julio Jones description?
  7. Andre Johnson @ Mia - His long term value is not great IMO.  But, he is healthy now and this game should be a blowout.
  8. Greg Jennings home vs SF - This might be his last season in GB.  He is going to play hard to try and prove he should stay or be given big money by another team.
  9. A.J. Green @ Bal - Should build on his impressive 2011 start this season.  Will Andy Dalton help or hinder his ascendance into fantasy elite?
  10. Antonio Brown @ Den - I believe the hype more than anyone else. I reached for Brown in all of my leagues.  Roethlisberger looks to him on 3rd downs and he is a possession receiver in a punt returners body.
  11. Wes Welker @ Ten - I don't think he will repeat last year's number, but he is always a reliable source of yardage.
  12. Eric Decker home vs Pit - Peyton Manning loves good route runners, and Decker might be the best route runner on the team.  Don't think of him as just a Wes Welker type.  He is a tremendous athlete as well.
  13. Brandon Lloyd @ KC - Lloyd had a breakout season in Denver under Josh McDaniels, after seven years of obscurity.  McDaniels becomes the Rams offensive coordinator and trades for Lloyd, who does well with the Rams.  McDaniels is now the Patriots offensive coordinator and brings in Lloyd as a free agent.  McDaniels loves Lloyd.
  14. Larry Fitzgerald home vs Sea - Arizona has the worst offensive line and QBs in the NFL.  Fitzgerald will still have good games based on his talent, but when.  You will never know when that good game will be.  I wish I could put him lower.
  15. Steve Smith (Car) @ TB - His foot injury is supposedly behind him.  He still has a lot of talent, but teams focused on denying the Newton to Smith connection in the second half of last season.  Proceed with caution.
  16. Dwayne Bowe home vs Atl - He is one of the most physically gifted red zone threats in the NFL.  He jumps for a ball at it's highest point almost as good as Larry Fitzgerald.
  17. Torrey Smith home vs Cin - The coaching staff has talked about how hard Smith has been working on his route running, and becoming a better overall WR, in the off season.  I believe in the breakout buzz.
  18. Pierre Garcon @ NO - Garcon and RG3 have become close friends on and off the field.  Garcon put up good numbers last year with a stable of turd QBs.
  19. Vincent Jackson home vs Car - Jackson has been traditionally a boom or bust WR.  He has top five potential talent.  Will he find consistency on a new team?
  20. Marques Colston home vs Wsh - He is a little banged up, but should be good to go.
  21. Mike Wallace @ Den - Wallace missed almost all of the Steeler's training camp.  This put him way behind in learning Todd Haley's new offense, but he is still one of the fastest WRs in the NFL.
  22. Jeremy Maclin @ Cle - Desean Jackson is drawing the Joe Haden match up, a very good CB.  This might give Mcalin more room to operate.
  23. Nate Washington home vs NE - I think they will be throwing from behind, and Washington was Jake Locker's favorite target last year.
  24. Malcolm Floyd @ Oak - He is healthy and the best receiver, behind Antonio Gates, on the San Diego roster.
  25. Demaryius Thomas home vs Pit - I think Decker is going to be the preferred talent, but Thomas has a lot of upside and talent.
  26. Steve Johnson @ NYJ - Johnson has a ticket to Revis Island this week and he is banged up.
  27. DeSean Jackson @ Cle - Beat writers have said that Jackson looks better than any other WR in training camp.  This could be too low, but he does have an elite CB matched up on him this week.
  28. Reggie Wayne @ Chi - I think Reggie Wayne's fantasy death has been greatly exaggerated.  Luck has looked great so far, and Reggie could be his top target. We will see.
  29. Titus Young home vs StL - Young is another beat writer wonder.  If the second year WR makes a statement this week, he could move up the weekly rankings.
  30. Justin Blackmon @ Min - I really like what I saw from Blackmon, and his QB Blaine Gabbert, this pre season.  Let's see if their good play holds up against regular season defenses.
  31. Michael Crabtree @ GB - It could be a shootout in Green Bay.
  32. Randy Moss @ GB - There is some talk that SF has been keeping Moss under wraps in the preseason, like the Patriots did in 2007.  He could be a featured weapon.
  33. Mike Williams home vs Car - Williams has been working hard this off season to get back  to his 2010 form.
  34. Darrius Heyward-Bey home vs SD - I don't love Carson Palmer at QB, but it looked like Heyward-Bey was his favorite taget last season.
  35. Steve Smith (StL) @ Det - I have a feeling that he could break out this season.  Remember him in New York?  Stash him on your bench this week if you have room.

Next week, I will rank the rest of the positions.  Email me at theffbi@gmail.com or leave a  comment and I will get back to it before kick off, if you have any questions.
